Aggies win gold, bronze medals at world meet: BERLIN -- Former Texas A&M All-American Simone Facey earned a gold medal running for the Jamaican women's 400-meter relay team Saturday at the world championships.

Another former A&M standout, Tyrone Edgar, won a bronze in the men's 400 relay running for the Great Britain.

Former A&M standout Fabrice Lapierre took fourth in the men's long jump, competing for Australia.

A&M volunteer assistant Muna Lee suffered an injury in the women's 400 relay competing for the American team.

A&M junior Jessica Beard ran the third leg on the United States' 1,600 relay team that qualified for the finals. Beard ran a 51.55-second split to help the Americans win their heat in 3:29.31. Debbie Dunn, Natasha Hastings and Sanya Richards also ran for the U.S.

The women's 1,600 relay final is Sunday.
