E-mail to a friend Texas A&M's Matt Bain and Conor Pollock earned first-team academic honors by the Big 12 Conference for men's tennis, while A&M's Marisa Druss and Elzé Potgieter made the women's first team and Tiffany Clifford made the second team.
Druss, a senior management major, is slated to graduate in May. Potgieter, a sophomore general studies major from Bloemfontein, South Africa, was honored in her first year of eligibility.
Bain, a senior, has a 3.361 GPA as a double major in marketing and finance in the Mays Business School. Bain, a three-time Verizon/Texas A&M scholar-athlete, will graduate in May and has accepted a position in energy trading with Occidental Petroleum Corporation. Pollock, a junior, has a 3.653 GPA in finance in the Mays Business School.
Student-athletes garnering first-team honors had to maintain a 3.20 grade point average or higher, either cumulatively or the two previous semesters, and had to have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Student-athletes had to maintain a 3.0 to 3.19 for second-team honors. Freshmen and transfers in their first year of academic residence were not eligible.
