Krajicek, Spencer advance: KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Texas A&M men's tennis players Austin Krajicek and Wil Spencer won their matches Wednesday to reach the round of 16 at the USTA Boys 18's National Championships.

Fifth-seeded Krajicek, who turned 18 in June, defeated Mousheg Hovhannisyan 6-4, 6-4, in the round of 32. He rallied in the round of 64 to beat John Lamble, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

No. 16 Spencer, who is making his fifth Kalamazoo appearance, defeated Isamu Tachibana, 6-2, 6-2, in the round of 64. He advanced to the quarterfinal round by beating Daniel Nguyen, 7-6 (0), 6-4.

The top-seeded doubles combination of Krajicek and Jarmere Jenkins of College Park, Ga., advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over the Northern California duo of Mateusz Kecki and Aba Omodele-Lucien.

On the USTA Futures Pro Circuit, Aggie senior All-American Conor Pollock reached the second round of the singles main draw in Milwaukee, Wis. Pollock beat fellow American William Boe-Wiegaard 6-2, 6-0. In doubles, Pollock and Sheeva Parbhu lost 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7) to Americans Brian Compton and Jim Slonac in the opening round.

Aggies to host seminar Saturday: The Texas A&M soccer team will host its second annual "Aggie Soccer 101" seminar on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Zone Club at Kyle Field.

Seminar participants will able to eat with the A&M players and coaches as they prepare for Saturday night's Maroon vs. White Game. A&M head coach G. Guerrieri will lecture on the rules of the game and assistant coach Phil Stephenson will provide an inside look into game tactics.

Aggies earn academic honors: Seven Texas A&M athletes were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Teams on Tuesday.

Olympian Allison George, along with two-time All-Americans Jessica Wingfield and Sandy Wooten made the list for the Aggie women.

On the men's side, Terry Dike, Kevin McNab, Jacob Rodriguez and Joe Sauvegeau were honored.

"This honor speaks very highly of the young men and women who are truly student-athletes," A&M coach Pat Henry said. "They take pride in everything they do, not only in track and field, but in the classroom and away from athletics as well."

To qualify for the academic team, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or the NCAA Outdoor regional or national qualifying standard in their respective event.
