TENNIS

Aggie men win at Tulsa: TULSA, Okla. -- Freshman Alberto Bautista led the 17th-ranked Texas A&M men's tennis team to a 4-3 victory over No. 31 Tulsa on Sunday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Bautista, who improved his singles record to a team-leading 5-1, defeated Tulsa's Grant Ive in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, at the No. 5 line to clinch the win for the Aggies (4-2). A&M won four of the six singles matches after dropping the doubles point to the Golden Hurricane (6-3).

Junior All-American Austin Krajicek tied the match at 1-1 with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Tulsa's Philip Stephens, improving to 5-0 in dual match play. He was followed by sophomore Alexis Klegou, who put Alastair Barnes away in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 3 line. Sophomore Colin Hoover topped Tristan Jackson, 7-5, 6-3, at No. 6.

The Aggies have a week off before playing host to Wisconsin and Laredo Community College in a doubleheader Feb. 21.

A&M women hammer LSU: BATON ROUGE, La. -- The Texas A&M women's tennis team swept the doubles matches and won four singles matches in straight sets en route to its first victory of the season, a 6-1 triumph over LSU on Sunday at W.T. "Dub" Robinson Stadium.

A&M (1-2) took an early lead as Sheri Olivier and Nazari Urbina defeated Hannah Robinson and Ebie Wilson 8-2 at the No. 3 line. Stephanie Davidson and Morgan Frank also cruised to an 8-2 win, defeating Kaitlin Burns and Nicole Kantor at the No. 2 line to clinch the doubles point.

Christi Liles and Elzé Potgieter came from behind to win at the No. 1 line and complete the sweep against LSU's Keri Frankenberger and Whitney Wolf.

A&M quickly took control in singles. Frank took only an hour to dispose of Frankenberger 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 to give the Aggies a 2-0 lead.

Olivier put A&M ahead 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Robinson at the No. 5 line, and Urbina clinched the winning point with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kantor at No. 3.

The Aggies off until Feb. 19, when they'll begin a three-day, three-match stretch in Las Vegas against San Diego. A&M will also face Fresno State and UNLV in that event.
