Texas swimmers sweep Big 12 titles

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Texas women's swimming and diving team won six of seven events and regained control of the meet to win the Big 12 Championship team title Saturday at the Missouri Aquatic Center.

Texas fell behind Texas A&M by two points after Friday's events, but the Longhorns won the first three swimming events and never looked back, finishing with 893 points. A&M took second at 831 followed by Missouri at 582, Kansas (493), Iowa State (332) and Nebraska (298).

On the men's side, Texas won the team title easily, finishing with 1,114 points. Missouri took second at 810.5 with A&M in third at 797.5. The Longhorn men have won all 13 Big 12 meets since the conference formed in 1996-97.

The Aggie women will compete in the NCAA Championships on March 19-21 and the men on March 26-28 at A&M's Student Rec Center Natatorium.
