E-mail to a friend The Texas A&M men's swimming and diving team voted Ozzie Gardner team MVP for this season at the team's awards banquet Monday night.
Gardner placed eighth in the 50-yard freestyle and swam on four Top 11 relay teams at the NCAA Championships. The fifth-year senior also set the school record in the 50 freestyle (19.49) and 100 freestyle (43.38).
Casey Strange was given the Trey Heye Memorial Award, while Jason Bergstrom was chosen for the Most Improved Award and Luke Chambless received the Bob Stalling Aggie Heart Award.
Kyle Holland, Brad Raiford and Casey Strange were also named team captains for 2008-09 while ten Aggies were honored for being on the academic All-Big 12 team, including Jason Bergstrom, Luke Chambless, Ozzie Gardner, Alejandro Jacobo, Brad Raiford and Casey Strange on the first team and Matt Platt, Henry Stevens and John VanNatta on the second team.
