Gibson player of the year finalist

Texas A&M senior pitcher and first baseman Megan Gibson is one of 10 finalists for the 2008 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.

Gibson is 30-1 pitching with a 1.08 earned run average. She is also hitting .358 with 13 home runs and 45 runs batted in.

The list will be cut to three May 21.

The 10 finalists include Houston pitcher/utility player Angel Shamblin, Arizona State pitcher Katie Burkhart, Tennessee infielder Tonya Callahan, Arizona State outfielder Kaitlin Cochran, Alabama pitcher/utility infielder Charlotte Morgan, Florida pitcher Stacey Nelson, Michigan pitcher Jordan Taylor, Virginia Tech pitcher Angela Tincher and Northwestern infielder Tammy Williams.
