Staff and Wire Reports
Undefeated and untied Stanford will face heavyweight North Carolina for the NCAA Women's College Cup championship Sunday at the Aggie Soccer Stadium.
The defending champion Tar Heels (22-3-1) are going for the program's 21st national title against the Cardinal (25-0-0) at noon. The match will be televised on ESPN2.
Stanford beat UCLA 2-1 in overtime in the semifinals Friday, while North Carolina edged Notre Dame 1-0.
Stanford is one win away from becoming the first team other than North Carolina to march through a championship season without a loss or a tie. The Tar Heels had a perfect record between 1991-93 and went 27-0 on their way to the 2003 championship.
