Texas A&M junior Whitney Hooper provided the heroics for the No. 14 Aggie soccer team Sunday, scoring the match-winning goal in the fourth minute of overtime for a 2-1 victory over Loyola of Chicago at the Aggie Soccer Stadium. After a throw-in, Hooper was surrounded by defenders but turned just outside the box, found space and struck a low shot inside the near post and past Loyola goalkeeper Katie Groesch. It was Hooper's fourth match-winner.
The Aggies (9-4-1) ran their unbeaten streak to four matches.
The Ramblers (3-11-2) got on the scoreboard first in the 19th minute with a penalty kick by Laura Trevillian. That held up until the 55th minute, when A&M Nora Skelton one-timed a shot into the back of the net off a rebound to even the score.
Kelly Dyer and Kristin Arnold combined for the victory in goal for A&M.
