IRVING -- Texas A&M senior Donald Sloan was voted first-team All-Big 12 while fellow Aggie senior Bryan Davis made the third team and All-Defensive team, the league office announced Sunday.
The men's basketball awards were selected by the Big 12's head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own players.
Sloan is the second first-team pick from A&M in the conference's 14-year history. Acie Law IV was the other, earning a first-team selection in 2007.
Sloan and Davis are just the second pair of Aggies to receive All-Big 12 honors in the same season. Law IV and Joseph Jones made up the other duo, with Jones receiving a second-team nod in 2007.
Sloan averaged 18.3 points in league play during the regular season, while Davis averaged 11 points and 8.4 rebounds. Davis earned his All-Defensive recognition by blocking 29 shots against Big 12 foes, a school record for league play.
Oklahoma State's James Anderson was voted the league's Player of the Year. A unanimous first-team choice, he led the Big 12 in scoring with 22.9 points per game. He averaged 24.1 points in conference play, the fifth-best scoring mark in league history, and had five 30-point games.
Kansas' Cole Aldrich was voted Defensive Player of the Year. The junior center finished second overall in the conference with 110 blocks, including 54 in league action.
Baylor's Ekpe Udoh was the top newcomer, Colorado's Alec Burks was the top freshman and Kansas State's Jamar Samuels received the Sixth Man award.
Kansas State coach Frank Martin was voted the league's Coach of the Year on the same day he received a contract extension.
