BASKETBALL

A&M men on Big Monday twice: The Texas A&M men's basketball team will have four conference games televised by ESPN and its regular-season ending game at home against Missouri on March 7 will be on ABC.

The Big 12 announced its schedule Thursday.

A&M will open the league Jan. 10 at Oklahoma State on ESPNU. The Aggies will return home to face Baylor on Jan. 14 on ESPN2.

The Aggies then will have back-to-back games on ESPN at home against Oklahoma on Jan. 17 and then at Kanas on Jan. 19 for a Big Monday appearance.

A&M's other games on ESPN will be at home against Oklahoma State (Jan. 31) and Texas (Feb. 16) for another Big Monday game.

A&M women open with Missouri: The Texas A&M women's basketball team will open Big 12 play at Missouri on Jan. 10.

The Aggies will return home to play Texas Tech on Jan. 13 in its lone league game on Tuesday night.

A&M has two Sunday games in the league's schedule, which was released Thursday -- at home against Nebraska on Feb. 8 and at Kansas State on March 1.

A&M's lone Monday night game will be Feb. 23 at home against Oklahoma.

OLYMPICS

Swimmers heading to China: A pair of swimmers with connections to Texas A&M will be competing in the second Olympic Games of their careers at the XXIX Summer Olympiad in Beijing, China.

A&M sophomore Balazs Makany (Hungary) competed for her country at the 2004 Athens Olympics in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay (16th place). Former student Francisco Picasso (Uruguay) swam the 200-meter IM (52nd) at the 2000 Sydney Games.

Makany, who joined the Aggies in 2007-08, qualified for the 2008 Games in the 100-meter freestyle after winning the event at the 2008 Hungarian Championships in Budapest.

Picasso will compete in 50-meter freestyle this year. Picasso swam two seasons at Texas A&M in 2006 and 2007 after transferring from Louisiana-Monroe.
