Aggies tied for sixth at invitational: CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The Texas A&M women's golf team shot a 15-over 303 on Saturday and is tied for sixth after two rounds of the Tar Heel Invitational at the Finley Golf Course.
Wake Forest leads at 585 followed by North Carolina and Virginia at 596. Louisville is fourth at 601. Vanderbilt is fifth at 602, and A&M and Auburn are at 604 in sixth.
A trio of Aggies are tied for 16th individually -- Sarah Zwartynski (74-75--149), Ashley Freeman (72-77--149) and Lauren Johnson (73-76--149). Crystal Reeves (82-75--157) is tied for 58th and Alexa Porter (82-83--165) is 83rd.
SOCCER
A&M hosts Oklahoma: The seventh-ranked Texas A&M soccer team will host Oklahoma at 1:30 p.m Sunday at the Aggie Soccer Complex.
A&M beat No. 12 Oklahoma State 2-1 on Friday to move to 9-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in Big 12 play.
Oklahoma (1-10, 0-2) lost to Oregon 2-0 on Friday. The Sooners have scored just eight goals this season and are on an eight-game losing streak.
A&M has won all 13 meetings with OU.
SOFTBALL
Aggies split on Saturday: The Texas A&M softball team split a pair of games Saturday at the Spring Klein College Classic. The Aggies defeated Texas State 11-5 but lost to Louisiana-Lafayette 6-0.
Holly Ridley went 2 for 4 with two home runs and five RBIs against Texas State. Rebecca Arbino earned her second victory of the fall by throwing a complete game with five strikeouts.
Alex Reynolds and Erin Glasco recorded hits in the Aggies' loss to ULL. A&M held the Cajuns scoreless until the fifth inning, when ULL plated four of its six runs with two outs. Glasco went 1 for 3 and Reynolds was 1-for-2 with a walk. Rhiannon Kliesing struck out five.
A&M will finish the Spring Klein Classic on Sunday with games against Texas-San Antonio at 9 a.m. and Stephen F. Austin at 11 a.m.
TENNIS
Karimi and Hoover reach round of 32: TULSA, Okla. -- Texas A&M men's tennis players Kayvon Karimi and Colin Hoover reached the round of 32 in the pre-qualifying draw of the D'Novo ITA All-American Championships on Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Karimi upset 17th-seeded Albert Jou of Tulsa 6-2, 6-3 in the second round and followed it with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Patrick Bandy of Kentucky in the third round. Karimi will face top-seeded Tyler Hochwalt of Florida on Sunday.
Hoover beat Jaime Pulger of North Carolina State 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, advancing to face Jacksonville's Jordi Ballester on Sunday.
A&M's ninth-seeded Chris Chirico defeated Nicholas Boulieris of Marquette 6-3, 7-5 in the second round but fell to Jorge Vasquez of Memphis 6-4, 7-5 in the third round.
Competition in the pre-qualifying draw continues at 9 a.m. Sunday. The qualifying draw begins Monday and with the main draw beginning Thursday.
