AUSTIN -- Senior Miranda Orr shot a 1-under 71 to lead Texas A&M into a tie for sixth place at the NCAA Women's Golf Central Regional at UT Golf Club on Friday.
The top eight teams, as well as the top two individuals not on those teams, will advance to the NCAA Championship May 20-23 in Albuquerque, N.M. A&M (295-302--597) and Alabama (304-293--597) are tied at 21 over going into Saturday's final round, three shots ahead of eighth-place Nebraska (600) and five ahead of ninth-place LSU (602).
UCLA leads at 576, followed by Purdue (582), TCU (585), Denver (590) and host Texas (596).
A&M freshman Sarah Zwartynski is tied for 19th (72-75--147), sophomore Danielle McVeigh is tied for 23rd (71-78--149), junior Lauren Johnson is tied for 48th (75-78--153), Orr is tied for 56th (83-71--154) and sophomore Ashley Freeman is tied for 86th (77-84--161).
TCU's Valentine Derrey leads the individual standings at 137. UCLA's Maria Jose Uribe is one shot back.
