Aggie men seeded third at Match Play Championship: MARANA, Ariz. -- The third-seeded Texas A&M men's golf team will play No. 14 Arizona in Sunday's opening match at the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Dove Mountain.
A&M will play either No. 6 UNLV or No. 12 Middle Tennessee State on Monday. The championship match is set for Tuesday.
A&M's lineup will include senior Andrea Pavan, freshman Cameron Peck, sophomore Jordan Russell and juniors Nacho Elvira and Conrad Shindler.
SOFTBALL
Aggies win pair at San Diego Classic II: SAN DIEGO -- The 24th-ranked Texas A&M softball team beat the Illinois-Chicago 5-0 and No. 25 UMass 1-0 on Saturday in the San Diego Classic II at the USD Softball Complex.
Melissa Dumezich (6-0) shut out UIC while Rebecca Arbino (14-3) pitched a nine-inning shutout against UMass.
Rhiannon Kliesing had the Aggies' lone hit against UMass when she hit an RBI single up the middle to score Macie Morrow, who was on second per international tiebreaker rules.
Against UIC, freshman catcher Meagan May hit two home runs and had four RBIs. May, who homered twice Friday, leads the team with 14 homers this season.
A&M (26-6) will finish play in the Classic against San Diego State at noon Sunday.
TENNIS
Time changed for Sunday match: The start time for Texas A&M's men's tennis match against No. 12 Louisville has been moved up to noon Sunday at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
The time was changed to accommodate team travel for the Cardinals.
A&M's women also will play Kansas State at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
TRACK & FIELD
Aggies win big at Carolina Spring Break Classic: CAROLINA, Puerto Rico -- The Texas A&M men's and women's track and field teams won eight events and set six meet records on Day 2 of the fifth annual Carolina Spring Break Classic.
On the women's side, Natasha Ruddock won the 100-meter hurdles in a meet-record 13.50 seconds. A&M's 400 relay team of Elizabeth Adeoti, Jeneba Tarmoh, Dominique Duncan and Gabby Mayo and the 1,600 relay team of Sandy Wooten, Katy Eudaly, Elizabeth Adeoti and Daphne Fitzpatrick won gold in meet-record times of 44.10 and 3:46.79. Tiffany Peters also won the triple jump.
Melvin Echard won the long jump for A&M's men with a meet-record leap of 24-9.75 (wind-aided), while Nick Cook won the shot put with a meet-record toss of 54-7.25. The 1,600 relay team of Tran Howell, Tabarie Henry, Bryan Miller and Kyle Dykhuizen won gold in a meet-record 3:07.44. Gerald Phiri also won the 100.
