Aggies finish fifth at Arizona Invitational: TUCSON, Ariz. -- Senior Andrea Pavan closed with a 4-under 67 on Tuesday to lead sixth-ranked Texas A&M to a fifth-place finish at the Arizona Invitational at Arizona National Golf Club.
California (29 under) edged host Arizona (28 under) by one stroke to win the team title. Fresno State placed third at 14 under.
Arizona's Rick Saferian won individual honors by three strokes with a 13-under total of 68-66-66--200.
A&M sophomore Jordan Russell, competing as an individual, finished fourth (66-70-69--205). Freshman Cameron Peck tied for seventh (71-67-69--207), Pavan tied for 11th (73-69-67--209), junior Nacho Elvira tied for 24th (69-70-73--212), sophomore Geoff Shaw tied for 29th (70-71-72--213) and junior John Hurley tied for 53rd (75-71-76--222).

Aggie earns Big 12 honor: Tabarie Henry was selected the Big 12 Track and Field Athlete of the Week after he won the 400 at the Texas A&M Challenge with a world leading and school record time of 45.81 seconds this weekend.
Henry also ran the third leg of the Aggies' winning 1,600 relay team, which set another school record with a world leading time of 3:04.86.
The updated rankings from USTFCCCA have both the A&M men's and women's track and field teams at No. 1. The men moved up from No. 4 while the Aggie women held on to the top spot.
