Dinner for Special Olympics set for Thursday: The Celebration Dinner & Auction portion of Gary Blair's Celebrity Golf Classic benefiting Special Olympics will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at The Tap.
A donation of $10 includes the fish fry and beverages.
GOLF
Aggie men heading to NCAA regional: DALY CITY, Calif. -- The No. 12 Texas A&M men's golf team will compete in the NCAA West Regional beginning Thursday at the Lake Merced Golf Club.
The 54-hole event continues through Saturday with the top five teams advancing to the NCAA Championships on May 26-30 in Toledo, Ohio. The other five regionals are in Galloway, N.J.; Austin; Sorrento, Fla.; Bowling Green, Ky.; and Stillwater, Okla.
The regional's second-seeded Aggies will be making their seventh straight NCAA appearance under head coach J.T. Higgins. A&M has advanced to the NCAA tournament in 30 of the last 35 years.
Joining A&M in the 13-team West Regional (with seeding in parentheses) will be No. 2 Southern California (1), No. 14 Arizona State (3), No. 22 San Diego State (4), UC Davis (5), Oregon (6), New Mexico (7), Colorado (8), UC Irvine (9), Kansas State (10), Oregon State (11), San Diego (12) and San Francisco (13).
Representing A&M will be seniors Bronson Burgoon and Matt Van Zandt, junior Andrea Pavan, and sophomores Nacho Elvira and John Hurley.
A total of seven Big 12 teams advanced to postseason play. In addition to the three teams in the West Regional (A&M, Colorado and Kansas State), two Big 12 members will play in the Southwest Regional: Texas Tech (3), Texas (4) and two will compete in the South Central Regional: Oklahoma State (1) and Baylor (8).
TENNIS
Tickets on sale for Championships: The NCAA Men's and Women's Tennis Championships will be at the Mitchell Tennis Center from Thursday to May 25.
Team competition will start Thursday and run through Tuesday. The singles tournament will start May 20 and doubles will start May 21.
All-session tickets range from $35 to $103. Individual tickets are $4 (students and youth), $10 (general admission) and $12 (stadium club).
TRACK & FIELD
Aggie women top rankings: Heading into the Big 12 Championships this weekend in Lubbock, the Texas A&M women are ranked No. 1 in the Track & Field News form chart for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The Aggie men are ranked fourth.
The Aggies will compete in the Big 12 Championships on Friday through Sunday at Texas Tech's Terry & Linda Fuller Track.
