GOLF

Aggie women in 12th at Liz Murphy Classic: ATHENS, Ga. -- The Texas A&M women's golf team shot 313 on Saturday and climbed three spots into 12th place after two rounds of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the University of Georgia Golf Club. The final round is set for Sunday.

Georgia leads at 602, followed by eight-ranked Purdue at 605 and 17th-ranked Alabama at 609. A&M is at 630.

Duke's Amanda Blumenherst and Purdue's Maude Aimee Leblanc at tied for the individual lead at 146.

A&M freshman Zwartynski is tied for 22nd after shooting back-to-back rounds of 77, while sophomore Danielle McVeigh is tied for 31st at 156. Sophomore Ashley Freeman stands at 158 with junior Lauren Johnson at 162 and junior Jodi Neal at 181.

TENNIS

Texas Tech men outlast A&M in Lubbock: LUBBOCK -- Texas Tech won the doubles point and held off a Texas A&M rally in singles to beat the Aggies 4-3 at the McLeod Tennis Center on Saturday in both teams' Big 12 opener.

A&M's Austin Krajicek and Wil Spencer beat Christian Rojmar and Bojan Szumanski 9-8 (3) at No. 1 doubles to tie the doubles matches at 1, but Tech's Michael Breler and Lenior Ramos clinched the doubles point with their 9-8 (3) victory on the second line over Chris Chirico and Conor Pollock.

In singles, Tech built a 3-2 team lead with Ilya Babinciuc's 7-5, 6-3 victory over Chirico on the fourth line. A&M's Krajicek tied the team score at 3 with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Ramos on the third line.

But in the last match standing, Tech's Breler outlasted Kayvon Karimi 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 to give the Red Raiders the victory.

Tech improved to 16-2 overall, while A&M fell to 9-6.

TRACK & FIELD

Aggies win 12 events in at Texas Invitational: AUSTIN -- The Texas A&M women's 400-meter relay team won and set a world leading mark with a time of 43.40 seconds at the Texas Invitational on Saturday.

A&M's Elizabeth Adeoti, Porscha Lucas, Simone Facey and Allison George posted the early season leader.

A&M won 12 events overall in its first outdoor meet of the year. The Aggies also had the best collegiate finish in four other events at Myers Stadium.

Three Aggies recorded double victories, including Lindsey Adams in the 100 hurdles and 400 hurdles. Khrystal Carter won the 100 and 200 on the women's side, while Dominique Stafford swept the men's 100 and 200.

Jessica Wingfield paced a 1-2-3-4 finish in the javelin for the Aggies, winning with a throw of 162 feet.
