A&M finishes 13th in Learfield Directors' Cup standings: Texas A&M's successful spring vaulted the Aggie athletics program to 13th in the final Learfield Directors' Cup standings, which were released Monday.

Directors' Cup points are awarded based on each school's finish in up to 20 sports -- 10 men's and 10 women's.

The Big 12 and Big 10 were the only Bowl Championship Series conferences to place every league school among the top 80 in the final standings. Texas led the way at No. 6, followed No. 13 A&M, No. 29 Oklahoma, No. 31 Nebraska, No. 33 Baylor, No. 35 Oklahoma State, No. 36 Missouri, No. 57 Texas Tech, No. 58 Iowa State, No. 69 Colorado, No. 72 Kansas and No. 77 Kansas State.

Stanford won the Directors' Cup for the 15th consecutive year. North Carolina was second, Florida third, Southern Cal fourth and Michigan fifth.

Learfield Sports manages the multimedia and sponsorship rights for more than 50 collegiate institutions. The Dallas-based company also manages corporate partner programs for the Big Ten and Western Athletic Conference and secures marketing partnerships for the Black Coaches & Administrators.

Hurley wins Nebraska Match Play title: BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Texas A&M's John Hurley defeated Andy Sajevic 7 and 6 on Sunday at Willow Lakes Golf Course to capture his second Nebraska Match Play Championship.

Hurley, who also won the event in 2007, shot a 3-under 33 on the front nine and led by four holes at the turn. He extended his lead to 5-up after the first 18.

Through 27 holes, Hurley was up by eight and eventually closed out the match with a 20-foot eagle putt on the par-5 12th hole. A monstrous tee shot left him a 130-yard wedge into the green for his second shot.

"It felt good to get out and get an early lead," Hurley said. "I was hitting some good wedges. Andy hit some good shots, but I stuck it in there closer and made some putts. He was close to making a lot of putts, which would have made it a lot tighter match."

Through the 30 holes he played Sunday, Hurley was 8-under.

"He never really took the foot off my back," Sajevic said. "He kept the pressure on and made me make putts. I couldn't put any pressure on him."
