Traditions to play host to 2010 NCAA men's golf regional: INDIANAPOLIS -- National champion Texas A&M will play host to the 2010 NCAA Southwest Regional at Traditions Golf Club, the Division I Men's Golf Committee announced Monday.
The tournament is set for May 20-22.
"We are thrilled that the NCAA has selected Traditions Club to host the Southwest Regional," A&M coach J.T. Higgins said. "This is a great opportunity to showcase our community, university and golf course. It comes as no surprise to me because Traditions is exactly what the selection committee looks for when picking regional sites. It is a tough, demanding course, the community will support the championship and we have all the amenities and staff to host a championship-caliber event."
Other regional sites next spring will be the Capital City Club in Alpharetta, Ga. (Georgia Tech, host); The Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind. (Notre Dame); Carlton Oaks Golf Course in San Diego (San Diego State); Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash., (Washington); and the Yale University Golf Course in New Haven, Conn.
TENNIS
Krajicek and Pollock win tournament, named to USTA Summer Collegiate Team: LOOMIS, Calif. -- The Texas A&M All-America doubles tandem of Austin Krajicek and Conor Pollock won the title at the Recoating West USTA Men's Professional Tennis Tournament with a 6-2, 7-6 (1) upset victory over third-seeded Alejandro Gonzalez and Eduard Struvay of Colombia over the weekend at the Del Oro Tennis Complex.
The victory capped a big week for Krajicek and Pollock, who were selected to compete on the USTA Summer Collegiate Team by the USTA and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The pair was among 24 of the nation's top collegiate tennis players selected to the team, which is part of an elite training program designed to provide college players with valuable exposure to the USTA Pro Circuit in a team-oriented environment during the summer months.
Krajicek and Pollock were the only players from the Big 12 Conference selected for the elite squad.
