Aggies sweep Big 12 honors: Texas A&M's Elzé Potgieter and Conor Pollock were named the Big 12 tennis players of the week on Monday.
Potgieter, a junior with the Aggie women, won the conference honor for the first time. Pollock, a senior All-American, is also a first-time winner.
GOLF
Johnson hot in Hawaii: HONOLULU -- Senior Lauren Johnson fired a 1-under 71 on Monday to lead Texas A&M into a tie for fifth place after the opening round of the Thompson Invitational at Kanehoe Klipper Golf Course.
The Aggies posted a team score of 306 and trail leader Idaho by nine strokes going into Tuesday's second round. Nevada and Osaka Gakuin are tied for second at 303, followed by Kansas State (305). A&M is tied with Hawaii and Boise State.
Johnson is tied for second in the individual standings, two shots behind Idaho's Kayla Mortellaro. A&M sophomore Sarah Zwartynski is tied for seventh at 74. A&M's other scores were Ashley Freeman (80), Stephanie Smith (81) and Kaitlin Hovda (82).
