No TV next week, either: The Big 12's television partners opted to pass on Texas A&M for the second straight week, deciding to air the other five games next week.

A&M's game against Kansas State on Oct. 11 at Kyle Field will kick off at 1 p.m.

The TV schedule for Oct. 11 will be Oklahoma vs. Texas, 11 a.m., ABC; Colorado at Kansas, 11:30 a.m., ESPN2; Nebraska at Texas Tech, 2 p.m., FSN; Iowa State at Baylor, 6 p.m., Fox College Sports; and Oklahoma State at Missouri, 7 p.m., ESPN or ESPN2.

Saturday's lineup will be Oklahoma at Baylor, 11:30 a.m., FSN; Kansas at Iowa State, 11:30 a.m., Versus; Texas Tech at Kansas State, 2:30 p.m., ABC; Texas at Colorado, 6 p.m., FSN; and Missouri at Nebraska, 9 p.m., ESPN.

League honors Hunter: Freshman defensive back Trent Hunter was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week. Hunter had 17 tackles in his first start, 11 of them solos.

Injury update: The injuries to the throwing shoulder of quarterback Stephen McGee and the leg of defensive end Mike Bennett are not as bad as first thought, Texas A&M coach Mike Sherman said.

McGee's injury was the same as he suffered against New Mexico, but not as bad as when he missed the Miami game. "We'll play it day-by-day," Sherman said.

Bennett had cartilage lock in his knee. Sherman said there wasn't much swelling and they are hopeful for a speedy recovery, but it's too early to say whether he'll play against OSU.

Running back Keondra Smith (foot) could be ready by the end of the week, while defensive back Jordan Peterson (shoulder and ankle) is expected to practice Tuesday, Sherman said.

McGee a candidate for CLASS Award: McGee was named as one of 30 candidates for the inaugural Lowe's Senior CLASS Award in football.

To be eligible a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior (in the Football Bowl Subdivision only) and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: Classroom, Character, Community, and Competition. McGee was one of four Big 12 athletes recognized.

McGee has started 30 games at quarterback. He is A&M's all-time leader in completion percentage and ranks second in total offense. In the classroom, McGee earned his degree in marketing in August 2007 and is on track to earn his M.B.A. in the spring of 2009. He is active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Athletes in Action and Aggie Athletes Involved.

I think that guy is right....there must be another world out there because our potential recruits seem to be finding it fast.

Next level quarterback....not a chance. Next level player.....doubt that too. Some of you apparently believe football only exists in the brazos valley. There is another world out there.

Comment Title: At the next level
Okay, so did I read that right when you said McGee will be a QB at the next level? While I have enjoyed watching him play and think he is a tremendous individual, that statement you made disqualifies you from making any further comments which might be taken seriously. If you truly believe that you are naive, way too involved in the Aggie cult, or seriously uninformed about sports.

Comment Title: Well Said
First off let us not forget that Stephen was a 4 star recruit. He is also the best QB on the time at this time. I think that the Aggie QB next year will be a good one too. It will be very exciting to see who wins the job next year with both Tannehill and Johnson getting playing experience this year.

Comment Title: McGee is the man
What no comments by Miller? He must still have stars in his eyes. Maybe he only likes to comment on the negative stories. Not only is McGee an excellent individual, but he is A&M's all time leader in completion percentage too. Johnson will be a great QB, but he's not ready yet. McGee meanwhile, is the real deal. He will be a quarterback at the next level, but is still needed here to give us the best chance to win week in and week out. This may be a long season, but the Ags will not quit. Sherman will not let them and McGee won't either. Remember, as Aggies, we are to be proud of our teams. Regardless of whether we win or run out of time, they are our teams, our fellow Aggies, and they represent us. With the exception of a small few over the years, they have done the latter very well. McGee's recognition is evidence of that. Keep fighting, Ags. We're behind you.
