Texas A&M redshirt freshman Johnny Manziel is among 16 semifinalists for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award. The only other freshman named was Oregon's Marcus Mariota.

Manuel of Florida State, A.J. McCarron of Alabama, Braxton Miller of Ohio State, Aaron Murray of Georgia, Denard Robinson of Michigan and Geno Smith of West Virginia.
Manziel is third in total offense (379.9 yards per game), tied for fourth in points responsible for (20.6 points per game) and is 15th in passing (279.4 yards per game).
The 16 semifinalists were selected from 124 starting quarterbacks in NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision schools.
