Navasota offensive lineman Jarvis Harrison has signed to play football for Texas A&M.
Harrison signed with Navarro Junior College two weeks ago on national signing day. At that time he was waiting to get the results after taking the Scholastic Aptitude Test for the first time, later than most college football prospects.
Navasota head football coach Lee Fedora said Harrison learned he had qualified last week.
A&M coaches have been aware of the 6-foot-4, 323-pound guard since his junior year, when they were recruiting his teammate, receiver Brandal Jackson.
Harrison only played football for two seasons at Navasota, where he also plays basketball and is a member of the track team.
"He's one of the better offensive linemen we've ever coached," Fedora said. "I think his upside is just phenomenal. He's an unbelievable athlete: You can see that on the basketball court. I think he has a great future at Texas A&M."
