Hodges up for Rudy Award: Texas A&M linebacker Michael Hodges is among 49 nominated for the Third Annual Rudy Awards.
The award, named after former Notre Dame player Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger, is for student-athletes who demonstrate exemplary character, courage, contribution and commitment.
Three Rudy Awards finalists will be chosen by the selection committee and fan voting.
The awards will be presented Jan. 11 in Orlando.
Fans can vote through Dec. 15 at www.CollegeRudyAwards/NomineeSearch.aspx.
Hodges walked on at A&M in January 2009 after transferring from Air Force. After the spring game, he was named a starter at linebacker and in the next to last practice of spring tore his ACL. Hodges has returned this fall to regain a starting position. Off the field, he contributes to Aggie Athletes Involved, a community service group of Aggie athletes who go out in the community and speak to schools.
Two of the selection committee members are former A&M head coach Dennis Franchione and Jackie Sherrill.
