Track & Field
NEW ORLEANS -- Texas A&M's Pat Henry, and Vince Anderson were named the NCAA Division I Women's Track and Field Coaches of the Year announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Wednesday.
Henry was named the Women's National Head Coach of the Year after leading his Aggies to their first-ever NCAA Outdoor Track and Field title.
The title marked the 13th outdoor title for the Aggie coach, as he earned 12 outdoor titles with the LSU women prior to his arrival in College Station.
In May, Henry's Aggie squad claimed victories at the Big 12 Outdoor Championship and the Midwest Regional.
Anderson, the Women's National Assistant Coach of the Year, helped lead the Aggies to the national team title with a four-point margin over Oregon.
Anderson is the sprints coach at A&M, and his sprinters made a big difference on the final day of competition, scoring 23 points. During the four-day event, Anderson's sprinters scored 42 of the 50 team points.
His 4x100 meter relay team broke a 20-year old collegiate and NCAA meet record of 42.50 set in 1989 by LSU. The women's relay crew of Khrystal Carter, Porscha Lucas, Dominique Duncan, and Gabby Mayo won A&M's third consecutive NCAA title in this event with a World leading time of 42.36 seconds.
Anderson's sprint, hurdle and relay crews totaled 59 points of the 126.5 scored by Texas A&M in winning a third consecutive Big 12 Outdoor title. Conference titles were earned in the 200 (Lucas), 400 (Beard), 100 hurdles (Mayo) and 4 x 100 relay (Carter, Lucas, Duncan, Mayo).

Comment Title: A&M GOT ANOTHER 3 STAR COMMIT?
My personal opinions:_____I'd rather have one five star player, than 4 four star players, than 12 three star players, than 36 two star players?_____AT least you have room to add more difference makers if we hada staff that could recruit them?_____Sherman must be stopped immediately!____WE already have three signing classes full, 72 players, and Sherman already has already made multiple offers for the fourth and fifth signing classes thru 2012?_____We only have 13 more commits to go, until we reach the 85 man ncaa squad limit until 1013 ??????????_____This means Sherman has filled up, in only 13 more commits, with mostly low level leftover commits. for the next poor A&M coach?_____This, the present squad, is blow out loss city!_____The Next coach would not have room to att difference makers except for Sherman's players jail bound and classroom attrition?_____ Can you imagine no more recruits to 2013, except the 72 we have in 2008, 2009, the current class today, and just 13 more to the 85 man ncaa limit_____MY God, this squad is almost it to 2013!!!!!!!!!!_____and even 13 more, all 5 star players wouldn't help this coaching staff?_____miller58
