FIRST QUARTER
Burning shirt: Freshman Randy Bullock kicked off to start the game. He had his redshirt pulled off because senior Richie Bean pulled a groin muscle Wednesday. Others starting their first game were Matt Moss for suspended Michael Bennett at defensive end and Terrence Frederick at cornerback. A&M played three corners most of the game.
Good omen for KSU: The Wildcats have scored first in 15 of 18 games under Ron Prince. They are 117-19 since 1990 when scoring first.
Key stat: Kansas State averaged more than 8 yards a snap.
SECOND QUARTER
Aggies lose review: A&M's Jamie McCoy caught at least three balls over the middle, but he had one taken away when it was ruled a drop. A&M coach Mike Sherman challenged the ruling after seeing the replay on the 12thMan TV, but the replay official ruled it was a drop.
No catch: KSU's Josh Freeman threw his first incompletion at the 11:12 mark. He completed his first seven passes.
Train sets mark: A&M's Jorvorskie Lane scored his first touchdown of the season on a 1-yard run. It established an Aggie career record for rushing touchdowns (45) and total touchdowns at 46.
Key stat: A&M's Justin Brantly had his first punt blocked in 128 attempts. The last time Brantly had a punt blocked came against Texas in 2005. Both were returned for touchdowns.
THIRD QUARTER
Can't win for losing: The ruling on the field for a fumble by A&M quarterback Jerrod Johnson was overturned, but instead of A&M getting the ball back, officials ruled Johnson down just short of the first down on the fourth-down play.
Penalty free: KSU committed its first penalty with 2:35 left in the third quarter.
A first for Goodson: Junior Mike Goodson returned a punt for the first time as an Aggie. He was hit just as he caught it, but he bounced off the defender and returned it 10 yards.
Key stat: A&M had 169 yards on 26 plays from scrimmage.
FOURTH QUARTER
Freshman records: A&M's converted quarterback Ryan Tannehill broke the freshman single-game record for receptions and yards receiving with 12 catches for 210 yards. Both marks were held by Terrence Murphy, who caught 10 passes for 146 yards against Colorado in 2001.
Who's up front: In the final quarter, A&M had one lineman (Kevin Matthews) playing where he started to open the season. Backups in the game were tackle Robbie Frost and guards Danny Baker and Vincent Williams. Lee Grimes, who was playing hurt, moved from guard to tackle.
Key stat: Both teams combined for 28 points in the final 4:37.
