EQUESTRIAN
A&M outrides No. 4 OSU -- The third-ranked Texas A&M equestrian team ran its home winning streak to 23 with a 16-11 victory over No. 4 Oklahoma State on Saturday.
A&M (9-4, 5-0) won five of seven rides in equitation over fences. Lindsay Smith had a discipline-best 81-point effort in a four-point win over Erin Prutow. Maggie Earle, Jackie O'Connell, Emily Williams and Brooke Coleman also won for A&M. MVP accolades went to OSU's Jordan White.
In horsemanship, the Aggies picked up another five wins, paced by Carey Nowacek. The true freshman racked up her third MVP of the season after a 74.5-70.5 victory over Mamie Tomlin. Randi Standley, Amanda Cushman, Caroline Gunn and Katie Lisabeth also won for A&M.
The Cowgirls (6-5) won a tight flat competition 4-3. A&M's Kristin Bell posted her fourth 80-point ride of the year in an 80-72 win over Jessie Brothers. A&M's Brittney Dodson and Elizabeth Solch also won. The Cowgirls' Sarah Brown was named MVP on the flat.
A&M's reiners scored three points with Abigail Grabein leading the way with a 70.5-70 victory over Caroline Daniels. A&M's Emma Myers and Courtney Dawe also won. OSU's Leah Kuehn won MVP honors.
The Aggies will host New Mexico State at 11 a.m. March 13. A&M's seniors will be recognized during the program.
SOFTBALL
Aggies take two at Invitational: Texas A&M beat Monmouth 10-0 and Northern Colorado 11-1 on Saturday in the A&M Invitational at the Aggie Softball Complex. Both games ended after five innings via the run rule.
Rebecca Arbino (7-3) scattered three hits while striking out five over five innings to earn the victory against Monmouth (1-3). Alex Reynolds went 3 for 3 with a double, while Kelsey Spittler went 2 for 2 with two doubles and four RBIs for A&M (16-5).
Melissa Dumezich (3-0) gave up one run on three hits and two walks while striking out two over five innings to earn the victory against Northern Colorado (3-13). Spittler went 2 for 3 with a double and her third home run of the season to go with four RBIs. Kelsea Orsak went 2 for 3 with three RBIs.
A&M will host A&M-Corpus Christi for a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
TENNIS
A&M women beat TCU: FORT WORTH -- The Texas A&M women's tennis team defeated TCU 5-2 on Saturday at the Friedman Tennis Center.
A&M (4-4) won the doubles point. Stephanie Davidson and Sheri Olivier beat Idunn Hertzberg and Gaby Mastromarino 8-3 at No. 3 doubles, and Elzé Potgieter and Nazari Urbina followed with an 8-3 victory at No. 1 over Kayla Duncan and Katariina Tuohimaa.
Lauren Santacroce gave A&M a 2-0 lead by beating Hertzberg 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. Christi Liles followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Mastromarino at No. 5.
Urbina clinched the team victory with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Duncan at No. 2.
A&M will host SMU at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
