EQUESTRIAN
A&M beats No. 6 K-State: The third-ranked Texas A&M equestrian team extended its home win streak to 22 shows with a 14-9 victory over No. 6 Kansas State on Friday afternoon at the Brazos County Expo Complex.
The Aggies (8-4) claimed three of the four MVP honors while beating the Wildcats (4-4) for the fifth straight time.
On the hunter seat side, A&M rode to a 6-6 draw but took the victory in a raw-score tiebreaker. Over fences, Maggie Earle rode to her third MVP award of the season in an 83-59 victory over Bridget Doyle. On the flat, Brittney Dodson picked up her first MVP honor, defeating K-State's Kali Yates 83-69.
A&M's western squad won 8-3. The horsemanship riders won four of five rides with the fifth ending in a draw. Caroline Gunn extended her school record with her 20th career MVP award in a 77.5-74 victory over Caley Coffey. The Aggie reiners took four of six points.
GOLF
A&M's Pavan wins Burns Intercollegiate: SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii -- Texas A&M senior Andrea Pavan shot a 7-under 65 to win the individual title at the John Burns Intercollegiate at Leilehua Golf Course on Friday.
The fifth-ranked Aggies lost a playoff for the team title against No. 23 UNLV. Both teams finished the tournament 28 under.
A&M freshman Cameron Peck tied for sixth (71-67-71-209), sophomore Jordan Russell tied for 11th (71-71-69-211), junior Nacho Elvira tied for 21st (73-68-74-215) and sophomore Geoff Shaw tied for 25th (73-72-71-216). Freshman Case Cochran, playing as an individual, tied for 29th (75-68-74-217).
TENNIS
Aggie women cruise past San Diego: LAS VEGAS -- The Texas A&M women's tennis team swept the doubles and won five of six singles matches to defeat San Diego 6-1 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the campus of UNLV.
A&M (2-2) won all three doubles matches by 8-2 scores. San Diego (4-4) cut A&M's lead to 3-1 by winning at No. 5 singles, but Nazari Urbina clinched the dual match with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles over Laura Claus. It was Urbina's first match on the second line.
A&M will face Fresno State at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Fertitta Complex.
