Aggies open season with two wins: TEMPE, Ariz. -- Texas A&M freshman Sydney Shannon blasted a three-run home run in her first collegiate at-bat in the top of the seventh inning to give the Aggies a 3-2, come-from-behind victory over No. 11 California and a perfect start to the 2010 season at the Kajikawa Classic on Friday.
A&M tallied 13 hits, including two homer and four doubles, in a 16-1, five-inning victory over Wisconsin at Farrington Stadium to open the day.
The Aggies will face Nevada at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and No. 5 Arizona State at 8 p.m. at the Kajikawa Classic.
EQUESTRIAN
Aggies to face Baylor in Waco: The third-ranked Texas A&M equestrian team will finish its regular-season road schedule against No. 7 Baylor at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Willis Family Equestrian Center in Waco.
A&M is 6-4.
TRACK & FIELD
A&M to host second challenge meet Saturday: The No. 1 Aggie track and field teams will host its second Texas A&M Challenge at noon Saturday at Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium. The meet will feature teams from the Big 12, SEC and Conference USA.
A&M, Texas and Texas Tech will represent the Big 12 against Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee from the SEC and Houston, Rice and UTEP from C-USA.
