A&M equestrian team adds three to roster: The Texas A&M equestrian team added three riders to its roster through open tryouts, head coach Tana McKay said Friday.
Sophomore Randi Anderson and freshmen Paige Linne and Jordan Miller earned spots on the team for the spring semester.
A&M will open its spring schedule Feb. 3 when the Aggies ride in two shows -- an English competition against SMU near Dallas and a western competition against TCU in Fort Worth.
FOOTBALL
Former A&M quarterback voted into Texas High School Football Hall of Fame: WACO -- Former Texas A&M quarterback Lance Pavlas, who went 28-2 in 1985-86 at Tomball before going to A&M where he was a starter for two seasons, is among eight who will be inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame on May 19 at the Ferrell Center in Waco.
Pavlas was picked from the 1980s. Others inductees will be Austin High's Delano Womack (1950s & before), Crane's Bob McKay (1960s), Odessa Permian's Joe Bob Bizzell (1970s), Longview's Bobby Taylor (1990s), Killeen Ellison's Tommie Harris (2000s) and coaches Jerry Larned of Monahans and G.A. Moore Jr., who coaches at Aubrey and has coached at Pilot Point and Celina.
SWIMMING & DIVING
Aggie men, women to face LSU on Saturday: The Texas A&M men's and women's swimming and diving teams will travel to Baton Rouge, La., to face off with LSU in dual meets Saturday.
The A&M women's team competed in the recent Austin Grand Prix and holds a 3-1 dual meet record, while A&M's men defeated Incarnate Word on Jan. 12.
VOLLEYBALL
New Mexico setter transfer to A&M: Former New Mexico starting setter Mariah Agre has transferred to Texas A&M, Aggie head volleyball coach Laurie Corbelli said Friday.
Agre started every match for the Lobos who were 14-15 in 2011. The 5-foot-10 sophomore from San Diego led the team and ranked third in the Mountain West Conference with 10.38 assists per set. Agre also led the Lobos with 15 double-doubles and 26 aces as a sophomore and was named to the 2010 Academic All-Mountain West Team.
