The week seven Pick 'Em

LAST WEEK: I was spot on with a number of picks — especially taking that Jameis Winston guy to blowout an overrated Maryland squad. However, my upset pick was so, so close but couldn't shut the door on Ohio State. I'm tellin' y'all, the Buckeyes will lose a game this season. I also didn't think Auburn had the horses to outduel Ole Miss. Then again, I forgot that Bo Wallace is a very average quarterback. Nonetheless, football returns for the maroon and white and I'll be heading to the legendary Grove (along with a night on Beale St.) Not to mention, there is one heck of a slate of games to indulge in. Let's do this.

Bye week? Ha! The Week Six Pick 'Em

LAST WEEK: I have to be honest, I didn't believe that UGA could score so easily against an LSU defense. That's mistake one. Mistake two: Believing that Wisconsin (or anybody in the Big 10) could challenge Ohio State in Columbus. Mistake three: Rooting for the Cowboys. This week, there is no A&M game, as many of you know. Because of that, I will sit on the couch all day Saturday and enjoy me some college football. Call me crazy, but I see something surprising happening this weekend.

The week five pick 'em

LAST WEEK: During the most boring slate of games of the season, I thought that maybe, just maybe, the Wolfpack could pull a Thursday night shocker. Wrong. I also thought Bill Snyder would shover some more dirt on top of Mack Brown. Wrong, again. I was proven right that Stanford and LSU are as good as their records say they are. And I correctly picked the Gators to beat a very mediocre Tennessee squad. Oh, and my Cowboys came through. All in all, a very average week for this prognosticator and for college football in general. This weekend, it will improve.

The week four pick 'em

LAST WEEK: Admittedly, I got a little too caught up in the spectacle happening around me and forgot about the fact that A&M has like 100 true freshmen in its two-deep on the defensive side of the ball. I also underestimated UCLA and Jim More, who is one heck of a coach. Or maybe I just overestimated Bo Pelini and those "fair weather" fans up in Lincoln. Oh and then the Cowboys forgot how to run the football and also Tony Romo forgot that he has Dez Bryant on his team. Regardless, it was an average week and because of Pac-12 officiating incompetency, I got my upset pick correct. Now, we move on to the worst week of games this season. Honestly, this is a week where all should thank the Lord for pro football because Saturday really is going to lack drama and, well, quality football.

THAT was college football at its finest, other takeaways from A&M's 49-42 loss to Alabama

As Johnny Manziel sprinted down the middle of the field following his 95-yard touchdown pass to Mike Evans, running aimlessly in multiple directions, having no idea what to do with his arms, just screaming to nobody in particular, that's when it hit me.

The week three pick 'em

LAST WEEK: I definitely regressed. Got a little too confident in Bobby Petrino and his team's ability to hold onto the football. I also believed in the Fightin' Catholics in the Big House. And for some reason, the thought that Jeff Driskel was a solid quarterback entered my mind. The only thing that saved my weekend was Aaron Murray's heroics and West Virginia's ineptitude. But worry not, I am back and ready to get this thing back on track.

The week two pick 'em

LAST WEEK: Yeah, I dominated. Picked SEC in all the right places (USC and LSU) and Tajh Boyd in the other. Then, I somehow saw that Jeff Scott would deliver a shocking knockout blow to Vandy. Now, I return for week two with a perfect record and a ton of confidence.

Fall camp week is here — Most important newcomers

I drove by the Coolidge Practice Fields this morning and I swear I could hear pads popping. I looked over, through the netting and saw two empty 100-yard patches of grass. Yeah, it was a hallucination, I suppose. However, fall camp week is finally — and may I stress, finally — here.

A different feeling, Johnny's future, other thoughts from A&M's spring 2013 debut [With practice VIDEO]

There wasn't much to take from Texas A&M's first spring practice of 2013. We were able to watch about 20 minutes, and the players weren't in pads. However, one thing that stood out was the feeling when walking inside the McFerrin Indoor Center. There was definitely a different mojo going on, once Drake's "Started from the bottom" began blaring from the loudspeakers. Let's just call it a cockier optimism.
