Could A&M fans see another number two running around on Kyle Field next season? A&M freshman receiver Speedy Noil, a midterm enrollee from New Orleans, tweeted out a photo of his locker with the number two on the name plate. Noil is ranked as the number one receiver in the nation in the class of 2014, and is already enrolled at Texas A&M to prepare for spring practice. Noil wore the number in high school, and was wearing it at the Under Armour All-American game when he made his commitment to Texas A&M.

The question has come up several times on whether or not A&M will choose to retire the number in honor of Johnny Manziel. In September of 2013 the Aggies retired the first jersey in school history when they retired John David Crow's number 44. Crow is the only other Heisman winner in A&M history.

I don't think A&M will retire the number anytime soon, it took decades for A&M to decide to retire 44 with Crow, many players wore that number after Crow, including A&M LB Great Quentin Coryatt. I think the retirement had as much to do with Crow's continued presence in the A&M community as it did with his accomplishments on the field. I think the same will hold tru for Manziel, if he remains a member of the A&M community long after his pro days are through then someday when he is much older A&M may honor him by retiring the number, but not anytime soon.

Retiring that # would be a mistake. Sumlin is going to have tremendous success at the QB position, while at A&M. These kids coming in were "hand-selected" by the staff and the receiver commits we are getting are amazing. If a QB starts at A&M for 2 or more years, they will likely pass Manziel statistically. We can't start retiring numbers every 3-4 years.

Give him a statue for winning the Heisman.
