It was a big night for the Texas Longhorns on Wednesday night at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame inductions in Waco.
The seven-person induction class included former UT men’s basketball coach Abe Lemons and former UT football greats Bill Bradley and Steve Worster.
They joined former Dallas Cowboys great Lee Roy Jordan, former Dallas Mavericks great Rolando Blackman, former NASL soccer player Kyle Rote Jr. and San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson.
It’s too bad no Aggie was included in the class, which marked the 50th anniversary of the TSHOF.
A pair of former A&M standouts — softball All-America pitcher Shawn Andaya along with All-Southwest Conference and NFL All-Pro lineman Richmond Webb — were on the 20-person primary ballot, but didn’t get enough votes. The late Tom Chandler, who was A&M’s baseball coach for 26 years, was on the 12-person veterans’ ballot, but lost out to Lemons and Worster.
Several Aggies have e-mailed that they’ve given up on the TSHOF. That’s too bad. That’s not the attitude. It’s a great organization. A great honor. Aggies need to keep pushing Andaya, Webb, Chandler, and others. Eventually, they all should get in.

Comment Title:
Aggie players don't get the respect that those that go to University of Texas do. They aren't a part of a winning tradition like at UT. Give it a few years and some of the women should make it in.
