SWIMMING & DIVING
Aggie women set Big 12 record: COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Texas A&M women's swimming and diving team set the conference record in the 200-yard medley relay Wednesday at the Big 12 Championships, winning the event in 1 minute, 36.02 seconds to break the former best time set last season by A&M.
A&M junior Tess Simpson, sophomore Breeja Larson, sophomore Paige Miller and sophomore Erica Dittmer also earned a spot in the NCAA meet with an A cut time.
"Any time we can break the school, meet and conference record by six-tenths of a second, that's pretty impressive," Aggie head coach Steve Bultman said. "It was a great way to start the meet off. They were solid all the way through. Obviously Breeja and Paige were really good, but it was really good leadoff split for Tess and a good anchor for Erica. I think we can even still go faster."
A&M leads the meet through two events with 74 points to Texas' 72. Missouri is third at 66 followed by Kansas (60) and Iowa State (56).
The tournament continues through Saturday at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.
