Texas A&M head baseball coach Rob Childress will be inducted into the Northwood University Athletics Hall of Fame on Nov. 10, his alma mater recently announced.
Childress was twice named an all-conference pitcher and won two NAIA conference championships at Northwood. He was also elected the school's Academic Athlete of the Year as a sophomore and senior. Early in his coaching career, Childress also served as an assistant at Northwood.
Childress coached at Texarkana College (1994) and had assistant coaching stints at Northwestern State (1995-97) and Nebraska (1998-05) before taking over at A&M. He has a 289-153-2 record coaching the Aggies with six straight NCAA tournament appearances and one College World Series appearance as well as two Big 12 regular-season titles and three Big 12 tournament titles.
The Northwood Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies will be held at Knights Hall in Cedar Hill at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 10.
