E-mail to a friend FORT WORTH -- Texas A&M scored the game-winning run in the ninth inning without getting a base hit to beat Texas Christian 3-2 on Tuesday.
With the score tied at 2, Brodie Greene opened the top of the ninth by walking then reached second when Kyle Colligan was hit by a pitch. Greene reached third on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch.
"Somehow, someway we found a way to win," A&M head coach Rob Childress said, "and that's kind of the way our team has been all year long. This is a big win for us, especially on the road against a very good TCU squad."
The Aggies (38-7) had just four hits against TCU starter Seth Garrison and reliever Andrew Cashner. The TCU duo combined to strike out 10 and walk just three.
But Cashner unraveled in the ninth with the walk, the hit batter and the wild pitch. He fell to 7-3 on the season.
Colligan had two hits for the Aggies and scored a run. Jose Duran was 2 of 4 with an RBI.
Matt Carpenter was 2 of 3 with a run scored for the Horned Frogs (29-16).
The win went to Kyle Thebeau (5-2), who struck out three and pitched 2 2/3 innings of hitless and scoreless relief.
For A&M, the game was only its third nonconference road game of the season, but Aggie fans made their presence felt in the 4,294 at Lupton Stadium.
"I felt like it was a home game for us," Childress said. "You could feel the energy on our side. There was a lot of maroon here, and it feels good to know when we go on the road, we're going to have great crowds pulling for us, too."
The Aggies will return to Olsen Field to host Dallas Baptist in a three-game nonconference series beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
