Eagle Staff Report
The fourth-ranked Texas A&M baseball team fell behind for the first time this season but rallied to win 4-3 over Stephen F. Austin on a Cole Lankford two-run single in the sixth Tuesday at Olsen Field.
Lankford's game-winner, which drove in Matt Juengel and Jacob House, came with two outs and made freshman Jason Freeman a winner for the first time. Freshman Daniel Mengden picked up his first save, striking out two batters in a perfect ninth inning.
Justin Choate was the hard-luck loser for SFA (0-3). He gave up four runs -- two earned -- in six innings.
A&M's relievers pitched five shutout innings and have yet to give up a run in 12 1/3 innings this season.
A&M (4-0) will open a three-game series against Holy Cross at 6:35 p.m. Friday.
