BASEBALL
Aggies rally in middle innings, beat Wildcats 6-3: MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Twice Kansas State took a lead. Twice Texas A&M answered.
The sixth-ranked Aggies used a four-run fifth to take the lead for good and cruised to a 6-3 victory over KSU in Big 12 action Friday at Tointoin Statium.
KSU led 2-0 after the first inning and 3-2 after the fourth, but Matt Juengel's three-run triple sparked A&M's go-ahead rally in the fifth.
A&M's John Stilson (2-1) picked up the victory, allowing three runs on nine hits and two walks over seven innings while striking out seven. Nick Fleece allowed a hit in a scoreless eight inning, and Joaquin Hinjosa pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his sixth save.
KSU's Kyle Hunter (2-2) took the loss, giving up five runs -- four earned -- on six hits while walking one and striking out six over four innings.
Game 2 in the three-game series is set for 4 p.m. Saturday.
EQUESTRIAN
A&M advances to face OSU in Big 12 finals: Top-seeded Texas A&M advanced to the finals of the Big 12 Equestrian Championship with a 10-6 victory over Kansas State on Friday at the Brazos County Expo.
The Aggies (11-1) claimed victories in both the hunter seat and western competitions, sweeping all four disciplines, and will ride for their first Big 12 title at 10 a.m. Saturday against second-seeded Oklahoma State (8-5). Admission is free.
A&M's Amanda Brightwell earned the MVP in horsemanship, while teammate Abigail Grabein won it in reining. Senior Brooke Coleman led A&M over fences.
OSU beat Baylor 10-6 to advance.
SOFTBALL
Aggies to host Cyclones this weekend: The 21st-ranked Texas A&M softball team will host Iowa State in a Big 12 weekend series at the Aggie Softball Complex.
Games are set for 2 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday.
A&M (28-8, 1-1) split its series with Baylor to open conference play last weekend. Iowa State (16-11, 1-1) split its first Big 12 series with Oklahoma State.
TENNIS
Aggie women to play two in Indiana: The Texas A&M women's tennis team will face No. 19 Notre Dame at noon Saturday and DePaul at 8 a.m. Sunday at the Eck Tennis Pavilion in Notre Dame, Ind.
A&M is 9-4 overall and 3-2 in Big 12 play. Notre Dame is 9-8, and DePaul is 10-7.
