BASEBALL
A&M to play in Baylor Classic: The Texas A&M baseball team will play at the QTI Baylor Classic this weekend, opening up with Western Kentucky (2-1) at 6 p.m. Friday at Baylor Ballpark.
The Aggies will play Big 12 rival Baylor (4-1) at 1 p.m. Saturday in a rare nonconference game. A&M will face Texas State (3-0) at 5 p.m. Sunday.
A&M (3-1) will be trying to bounce back from a 7-6 Wednesday loss to Stephen F. Austin.
EQUESTRIAN
Aggie to compete in inagural Equitation Challenge: WELLINGTON, Fla. -- Texas A&M sophomore Maggie Earle will compete in the inaugural Winter Equitation Festival Collegiate Equitation Challenge at 6 p.m. Friday at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Florida.
Earle will join 15 other riders in the event, which will be run in the Varsity Equestrian head-to-head format over an equitation course. She will face Sacred Heart University senior Julie Law in the first round of the single-elimination tournament.
SOFTBALL
Fordham blanks A&M: CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. -- Fordham's Jen Mineau struck out 15 batters to lead the Rams to a 4-0 victory over the 19th-ranked Texas A&M softball team in the Cathedral City Classic on Thursday afternoon at the Big League Dreams Sports Park.
A&M (10-2) managed only three hits while having its seven-game winning streak snapped. Mineau (3-0) didn't walk a batter and has 46 strikeouts this season in 20 innings.
A&M pitcher Rhiannon Kliesing (6-1) kept it scoreless until the fifth when the Rams (4-1) scored two runs on one hit. Fordham's Jamie LaBovick added a two-run homer in the sixth.
"The game humbled us, and it's a matter of us getting out and playing the game with some confidence and shaking this one off," A&M head coach Jo Evans said.
A&M played Oregon late Thursday night. The Aggies will play UNLV and San Diego State on Friday.
TENNIS
A&M men in doubleheader action: The 17th-ranked Texas A&M men's tennis team (6-2) will play St. Edward's University (2-2) at noon and Texas Christian (4-2) at 6 p.m. Friday at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
