A&M signs Hadley, Bratsen: Navasota pitcher Derrick Hadley and Bryan High outfielder Krey Bratsen were among 11 who signed with the Texas A&M baseball team recently.
Also signing were Amarillo High outfielder Blair Dickey, Houston Bellaire picher-infielder Kyle Chaskin, Amarillo Tascosa infielder Charlie Curl, The Woodlands infielder Spencer Davis, Giddings infielder Ty Marlow, La Porte first baseman-outfielder Kendrick Perkins, Orangefield outfielder Jace Statum, Houston Bellaire infielder Kirby Taylor and Alvin Junior College pitcher-outfielder James Wooster.
Bratsen batted .417 as a junior with seven doubles, three triples, five home runs, 25 RBIs and 28 stolen bases. Hadley was 7-2 with a 1.43 earned run average. He struck out 66 in 41 innings.
SWIMMING & DIVING
Aggies dominate at Cougar Classic: HOUSTON -- The No. 8 Texas A&M women's swimming and diving team took the lead after Day 1 at the Cougar Classic Fall Invitational on Friday at the University of Houston's Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium.
The Aggies won five of six events and scored 464 points. SMU was in second at 221 followed by LSU (183) and Houston (144).
The Aggies also piled up 17 NCAA qualifying marks in the evening session.
Kristen Heiss had A&M's lone NCAA "A" cut with a Big 12 record of 4:38.24 in the 500-yard freestyle. The Aggies took the top six spots in the race. A&M's Julia Wilkinson won the 200 individual medley. Maria Sommer won the 50 freestyle, and the Aggies won the 200 freestyle and 400 medley relays.
