Aggie highlights field at Texas Amateur: You never saw former Texas A&M golfer Bronson Burgoon play while he was at Texas A&M?
Well, you have another chance.
Burgoon, who led the Aggies to the men's national championship last month and played in this year's U.S. Open, is among 144 golfers in this week's Texas Amateur Championship, which starts Thursday at Miramont Country Club.
"This is the tournament's 100th anniversary, and I think it's real neat that we were able to get it," said Brad Lardon, Miramont's director of golf.
The field includes four past champions and 12 who have won some sort of state championship.
The field will be cut to 54 and ties after 36 holes.
Conrad Shindler, who just ended his sophomore season at Texas A&M, also is in the field along with three Miramont members -- Jon Flores, Glynn Johnson and Bill Wiley. Former A&M Consolidated golfer Jordan Russell, who just finished his freshman season at Texas A&M, also is in the field.
Lardon won't get to see the tournament's finish. He's leaving after Thursday's opening round for the U.S. Club Pro Championshps at Twin Warriors Resort just north of Albuquerque.

13 Aggies at Sr. & Jr. Championships: Thirteen Texas A&M athletes will be competing this weekend at the USA Outdoor Senior and Junior Championships, which are being held at Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus.
Aggie in the Senior Championships are Jessica Beard (400), Chris Dykes (200), Porscha Lucas (200), Gabby Mayo (100 hurdles), Bryan Miller (400), Justin Oliver (400), Zuheir Sharif (triple jump), and Jeneba Tarmoh (100, 200). Aggies in the Junior Championships are Dominique Duncan (200), Michael Preble (400) and Kevin Burnett (5,000). Two A&M freshman signees competing are Wayne Davis (110 hurdles) and Sam Humphreys (javelin).
A&M volunteer assistants in the meet include Muna Lee (100, 200), Aries Merritt (110 hurdles), Wallace Spearmon (200) and Kelly Willie (200).
In the Sr. Championships, the top three in each event, who possess the World Championship qualifying standard, will qualify for the United States team. In the Jr. Championships, the top three in each event who possess the World Championship qualifying standard, will qualify for the United States team.
Some of meet will be televised.
ESPN (Ch. 27) will air competition at 7-9 p.m. Friday and 6:30-8:3-0 p.m. Saturday. NBC (KMAY, Ch. 6) will televise competition at 3-5 p.m. Sunday.
