BASEBALL
Aggies set to close out homestand: The Texas A&M baseball team will host Stephen F. Austin at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday at Olsen Field.
The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday but was postponed due to inclement weather. Fans holding tickets for the original game can use those for admission Wednesday.
Fans can watch free live video of the game on aggieathletics.com. The game will be broadcast live on KZNE (1150 AM) and can be found on the 1150 channel at radioaggieland.com online.
GOLF
Aggie women tie for fifth at Central District Invitational: The No. 16 Texas A&M women's golf team closed with a 7-over 295 on Tuesday and tied for fifth at the Central District Invitational at River Wilderness Country Club.
The Aggies finished the 54-hole event at 34-over to tie with No. 12 LSU and No. 25 Ohio State. Eighthteenth-ranked Florida won the title at 7 under, beating second-place TCU by 29 strokes. Fourth-ranked Purdue took third (25 over) and No. 10 Michigan State placed fourth (31 over).
Florida's Isabelle Lendl (74-67-71--212) and Marika Lendl (72-70-70--212) shared individual honors.
A&M's Julia Boland (73-73-75--221) and Sarah Zwartynski (71-78-72--221) tied for ninth, Ashley Freeman (72-81-74--227) tied for 31st, Chloe Garner (79-78-74--231) tied for 50th and Alexa Porter (81-79-80--240) placed 71st.
A&M will compete at the University of Central Florida Challenge on March 1-2 in Sorrento, Fla.
SOCCER
Aggies hold annual awards banquet: Katie Hamilton and Whitney Hooper were named co-Offensive MVPs while Rachel Shipley won the Midfield MVP and Emily Peterson was named Defensive MVP at the Texas A&M soccer team's 17th annual awards banquet Tuesday at The Zone Club at Kyle Field.
Hooper was the team's leading scorer while Shipley led in assists. Hamilton also received the Most Improved award.
Amber Gnatzig received the Iron Aggie award, given to the player who achieves the most in the weight room. The Newcomer of the Year was Mary Grace Schmidt.
The 12th Man award went to Cydne Currie, given to the bench player who made the largest contribution on the field. Gnatzig also received the Spirit of Aggieland award, given to the player who displayed leadership and cohesive spirit for the team.
Hamilton also received the Perseverance Award.
