Fleece namd to preseason stopper list: IRVINE, Calif. -- Texas A&M pitcher Nick Fleece was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Preseason Stopper of the Year watch list.
Fleece, a junior, is one of 40 players to make the list. He led the Aggie pitching staff last season with 26 relief appearances, recording a team-high five saves. Fleece finished the year with a 4-1 record and 3.54 ERA, allowing a run in just five of his 26 outings.
The Big 12 Conference had five players named to the preseason watch list.
The winner will be announced on the opening day of the College World Series, June 19.

FSN to broadcast A&M-UT game at Olsen: The April 17 baseball game between Texas and Texas A&M at Olsen Field will be televised by FSN.
The game will start at 5:30 p.m.

Aggie men fifth after two rounds: TUCSON, Ariz. -- Sixth-ranked Texas A&M fired rounds of 283 and 277 for an 8-under total of 560, good for fifth place after two rounds at the Arizona Invitational at Arizona National Golf Club.
California leads at 25-under 543. Host Arizona is in second at 18 under, followed by Fresno State (11 under) and Pepperdine (9 under). A&M is tied with New Mexico and No. 3 Florida.
California's Michael Weaver (64-68--132) and New Mexico's John Catlin (66-66--132) are tied for the individual lead at 10 under.
Four of A&M's five starters are under par. Freshman Cameron Peck is in ninth at 4 under (71-67--138), junior Nacho Elvira is tied for 10th (69-70--139), sophomore Geoff Shaw is tied for 26th (70-71--141), senior Andrea Pavan is tied for 30th (73-69--142) and junior John Hurley is tied for 50th (75-71--146).
Sophomore Jordan Russell, competing as an individual, shot 66-70--136 and is tied for fifth at 6 under, four strokes behind the leaders.
