FOOTBALL

FSN picks up CU-Colorado: The Big 12 and FSN Rocky Mountain officials announced Monday that the Colorado-Colorado State football game will move to Sept. 6 for television.

The game had been originally scheduled for Sept. 5.

A&M athletics director Bill Byrne said two months ago he'd been approached by a television network about the school making the move of the New Mexico home game from Sept. 5 to Sept. 6 for a nationally televised game.

A source close to the negotiations last month said that FSN couldn't work out a deal for the A&M-New Mexico game, and quickly reached an agreement to show the CU-CSU game.

It's the second straight year CU and CSU have opened the season on a Sunday.

Here's the early portion of the Big 12's TV schedule:

Sept. 5: Georgia at Oklahoma State (ABC), 2:30 p.m.; Missouri vs. Illinois in St. Louis (ESPN), 2:40 p.m.; BYU vs. Oklahoma in Arlington (ESPN), 6 p.m.

Sept. 6: Colorado State at Colorado (FSN) 6 p.m.

Sept. 11: Colorado at Toledo (ESPN), 8 p.m.

Sept. 12: Iowa at Iowa State (FSN), 11 a.m.; Houston at Oklahoma State (FSN), 2:30 p.m.

Sept. 19: Duke at Kansas (VERSUS), 11 a.m.; Tulsa at Oklahoma (FSN), 2:30 p.m.; Texas Tech at Texas (ABC), 7:00 p.m.

Sept. 25: Missouri at Nevada (ESPN), 8 p.m.

Sept. 26: Texas Tech at Houston (ESPN2), 8:15 p.m.

Oct. 1: Colorado at West Virginia (ESPN), 6:30 p.m.

Oct. 8: Nebraska at Missouri (ESPN), 8 p.m.

Oct. 17: Oklahoma vs. Texas in Dallas (ABC), 11 a.m.

Nov. 19: Colorado at Oklahoma State (ESPN) 6:30 p.m.

Nov. 26: Texas at Texas A&M (ESPN), 7 p.m.

Nov. 27: Nebraska at Colorado (ABC), 2:30 p.m.

BASEBALL

Shofner, Patterson make all-regional team: Texas A&M sophomore third baseman Caleb Shofner and junior designated hitter Joe Patterson were named to the NCAA Fort Worth Regional All-Tournament Team announced late Sunday.

Shofner hit .583 over the Aggies' three games with a double, two home runs, six RBIs and three runs scored.

Patterson hit .500 with two home runs, four RBIs and four runs scored over the weekend, playing the opening game in left field and the final two at DH. His two-out, two-run homer in the top of the 11th inning Saturday against Wright State lifted the Aggies to a 6-4 victory.

VOLLEYBALL

Black, Corbelli added to U.S. Women's Junior National Team: Texas A&M volleyball player Kelsey Black has been named to the 12-player 2009 U.S. Women's Junior National Team and Aggie associate head coach John Corbelli will serve as an assistant coach for the team, USA Volleyball recently announced.

The team will compete at the FIVB World Championship at Tijuana and Mexicali, Mexico, July 16-25. The team will train for the event at the U.S. Olympic Training Center at Chula Vista, Calif.

Black, who was a member of the Women's Junior National Training Team last summer, is expected to battle Lilla Frederick of Pepperdine for the libero position, while the player not selected as libero will see time as outside hitter and defensive specialist.

As a freshman in 2008 the 5-foot-11 Black played in every match for the Aggies, starting two as an outside hitter and 12 as the designated libero. She led the team with four 20-plus dig matches and finished the season with a team-high 3.0 digs per set in Big 12 contests. She was named the team's Most Improved Player.

Corbelli is serving as an assistant coach for the team for the second consecutive season. Last year Corbelli helped direct the U.S. Women's Junior National Team to the gold medal at the NORCECA Women's Junior Continental Championship in Saltillo, Mexico, which qualified the team for the 2009 FIVB World Championship.

Comment Title:
Camps are nice miller58. But they don't replace game experience, which both last year's and this year's O Line sorely lack.

Hey, thanks for the complement miller58. I never knew you thought I was Obviously Fantastic. That makes me feel so special.

The one thing that sticks out in your number is the amount of freshmen and sophmores (weren't they Sherman recruits???) that A&M has to rely on this year. You can't compete for the Big 12 title with a bunch of first and second year players. They need time in the system. Sure, lots of good college teams have a couple of freshman who come in and play right away. But they don't rely on this kids. They rely on their juniors and seniors.

Comment Title: Re: miller58's OL
Explain how A&M is going to have one of the Big 12's top OLines. You have what, three seniors along with four sophmores, maybe a junior thrown in there too. The rest are either redshirt freshmen or true freshmen. Take a look at that mag by Phil Steele. The Oline is one of the weakest positions on the team. I'm sorry you don't enjoy it when I point out your inconsistencies miller58. But if you can't take it, then don't post.

Comment Title: RE: Crock O.F.
My personal opinions:_____Crock O.f., Despite our talemt dropping like a rock under Sherman, from 33 four and five star difference makers in '07 to just 23 this fall, we still have talent left, not good coaching!_____If ou coaches had this squad since November '07, instead of the coaching losers the Mckinney administration and Regents hired, A&M would have a winning season with a bowl, this year._____Our 4 and 5 star backs, returning QB and returning deep receiving corp and returning TE are all talented!_____ Instead expect a coaching staff ranked last in the big 12 and last nationally by some, to lose more games than they win this year,in spite of a favorable cream puff schedule?____I listed the elite talented 23 OL by name, below, almost twice as many as ou will have on campus!_____Similarily on defense, a 4 star DL of Moss, Davis, Eddie backed by 4 star LB's Miller, Wooldridge, Lewis and Stewart, 4 star corners Judie and Pugh, and 4 star safety Futsch, all if coached by ou coaches would have an A&M winning season and a bowl._____Expect Sherman to lose more than they win and no bowl!_____And with Sherman's crappy recruiting, maybe yet we will commit our first 4* on defense this year?_____ ou coaches since November '07 would have A&M a well oiled offense and defense by now, and their recruiting would be hands down better than Sherman's losing disaster!_____Crock O.F.,that is why even still with talent left, our coaching is still ranked at the bottom and we lose in '09_____Sorry Crock O.F., just the real true numbers and names, with no AGGIE SPIN MACHINE bs added!_____miller58

Comment Title: Baylor Defensive
BU doesn't exactly have a lot of commits at this point miller58. And the big one they do have decommited from Texas. So what's your point???? Or don't you have one? You just like shooting off, don't you miller58. When are you going to explain how A&M has enough talent to win 10+ games this year but Sherman can't recruit. The only thing consistent about you is that you consistently contradict yourself, miller58. You like to rage about how Sherman lost this recruit or the coaching staff lost that recruit. But Texas lost Ahmad Dixon, which goes to show even guys like Mack Brown lose recruits.

Comment Title:
What does this have to do with volleyball, miller58? If you're going to comment on football in a volleyball article, why not go ahead and congratulate the men's golf team for winning the national title. Oh, by the way, are you changing your story again? You've stated many times in the past that Sherman can't recruit, etc., etc., but now you say he has "elite" talent on the o-line. So which one is it miller58? Can't recruite. Or elite talent? You can't have both.

Comment Title: BAYLOR HAS COMMITTED MORE FOUR STAR DEFENSIVE TALENT THAN A&M THIS YEAR?
My personal opinions:_____Are all our defnsive problems solved; or have we just given up, and are waiting for the next head coach this December?_____Which is it?_____miller58

Posted by: miller58 On: 6/2/2009

Comment Title: A&M WILL HAVE ONE OF THE TOP 0-LINES IN THE BIG !2 !
My personal opinions:_____A&M has 23 GREAT TALENTED 0-linemen on cAmpus this fall: the majority of the 2-deep, have had under Sherman, 2 spring trainings, 2 summer camps and 2 fall camps._____JUST NO EXCUSES?_____First We have five elite talents; four 4 star talents and a Remington Award nominee; Seniors 4*Schumart and 4*Williams, Junior 4*Allen, Fish 4*Lewis, and Senior Remington Award Nominee Mathews!_____Then with very heavy starting experience; Senior Grimes, Senior Patterson, RS Soph Elkie, RS Soph Baker, Soph Vasquez., and another 13 linemen including Sherman signed recruit sophs and fish._____This will be one of the best 0-lines in the Big 12 if the coaching hasn't been a complete disaster the past 2 years?_____But wait?_____Sherman's coaching has been a complete disaster since November 2007???????????____miller58
