A&M-SHSU given new start time: The Texas A&M softball game against Sam Houston State on Feb. 29 in Huntsville has been rescheduled to a 4 p.m. start time to accommodate SHSU athletics scheduling.
SWIMMING & DIVING
28 Aggies named Academic All-Big 12: Twenty-eight Aggies were named to the Academic All-Big 12 swimming and diving team, announced Tuesday. To be considered for first-team honors, the athlete must hold a 3.2 GPA or better. Second-team athletes must hold at least a 3.00 GPA.
Representing the Aggies on the first-team are Amini Fonua, John Ariens, Nick Han, Cheyne Hermes, John Wagner, Austin Wilson, Simon Frank, Paul-Marc Schweitzer and Donnie Walker. Boris Loncaric and Wes Wheeler are on the second-team.
For the women, the first-team Aggies are Wylie Escobedo, Kristina Kontrimas, Caroline McElhany, Allyson Sweeney, Kelsey Tomlin, Jordan King, Maureen McLaine, Liz Nelson, Christine Regone, Alyssa Conner, Megan Latone, Rita Medrano, Megan Onstott, Janie Potvin and Jo Thibodeaux. Cammile Adams and Raclin Rehring received second-team honors.
Conner, Hermes, Onstott and Schweitzer were four of the six Big 12 swimmers and divers to hold a perfect 4.0 GPA.
The A&M athletes will be competing in the Big 12 Championships starting Wednesday in Columbia, Mo. Foxsports Network (FSN) will broadcast the finals. Live video of preliminary action will be available at Big12Sports.com.
