SWIMMING & DIVING


A&M sweeps LSU in dual meets: BATON ROUGE, La. -- The Texas A&M men's and women's swimming and diving teams each earned road victories over LSU on Saturday, with the men winning 167.5-132.5 and the women 181-115. Each Aggie squad won nine individual events and two relays.


A&M's John Ariens, Amini Fonua, Boris Loncaris and Kyle Troskot won the men's 200-meter medley relay in 1:29.05, while the 200 freestyle relay team of John Dalton, Austin Wilson, Loncaric and Troskot won in 1:21.14.


A&M's Tess Simpson, Breeja Larson, Paige Miller and Kim Pavlin won the women's 400 medley relay in 3:40.12.


Dalton also won the 200 freestyle in 1:39.10 and the 100 freestyle in 44.70. Loncaric followed with wins in the 200 butterfly (1:47.75) and 100 butterfly (48.07). Ariens won the 100 backstroke (49.45), while Fonua claimed the 100 breaststroke (54.81) and Paul-Marc Schweitzer won the 400 medley (4:00.00).


A&M's Grant Nel won both the 1-meter (410.05) and 3-meter (416.25) springboard diving events for the men while Hayden Jones took second on the 1-meter at 358.15.


Larson won the 100 (1:00.45) and 200 (2:09.71) breaststroke races for the women. A&M's Liz Nelson won the 1,000 freestyle (9:58.23) and the 500 freestyle (4:52.65), while Pavlin won the 200 backstroke and the 200 medley. Paige Miller also won the 100 backstroke (54.69).


In the final event, Sammie Bosma, Kelli Benjamin, Kristina Kontrimas and Christine Regone won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:23.24.


On the boards, Jaele Patrick and Janie Potvin earned 1-2 finishes on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards for the Aggie women. Patrick finished with a score of 332.35 on the 1-meter and a 369.50 on the 3-meter while Potvin scored a 309.20 on the 1-meter and a 358.85 on the 3-meter.


TENNIS


A&M doubles teams dominate in doubleheader sweep: Texas A&M men's tennis coach Steve Denton won his 100th match with the Aggies as 11th-ranked A&M defeated Louisiana Lafayette 5-2 in the opening match of a doubleheader sweep Saturday at the Mitchell Tennis Center. The Aggies also shut out Texas-San Antonio 7-0 to extend their home winning streak to 38 matches at the Mitchell Tennis Center.


Redshirt freshman Jackson Withrow and sophomore Junior Ore teamed up in No. 1 doubles to win a pair of matches Saturday. Senior co-captain Colin Hoover and freshman Jeremy Efferding also swept their doubles matches for A&M on the second line. At No. 3 doubles, A&M redshirt freshman Jordan Szabo and senior John Lewis won 8-4 against ULL, while Niall Angus and Lewis won against UTSA.


A&M (2-0) will host Purdue next Saturday.
