Eagle staff report

Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi, who interviewed with Texas A&M head football coach Kevin Sumlin on Thursday, has decided to stay with the Spartans.

"When provided a professional opportunity like Texas A&M, I owed it to my family to investigate it because my first obligation is to take care of my wife and children," Narduzzi said Friday in a school release. "The bottom line remains, however, that I'm very comfortable working for [head coach] Mark Dantonio and Michigan State."

Dantonio said that even before A&M "aggressively pursued" Narduzzi, MSU athletics director Mark Hollis had "identified the financial resources to make sure that not only Pat, but all of our assistant coaches, had salaries that are competitive in the Big Ten."

Narduzzi was making $240,000 a year at MSU but could have made at least $600,000 at A&M, reported SpartanNation.com.
