Russell, Aggies lead at Royal Oaks
DALLAS -- The Texas A&M men's golf team and senior All-American Jordan Russell both sit atop the leaderboard after the first two rounds of the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate at Royal Oaks Country Club on Monday.
The Aggies had two of their best rounds of the season, posting scores of 278 and 273 to finish the day at 17-under (551). The team holds a seven-stroke lead over Duke .
Individually, Russell shot a 133 (66-67) to sit at 9 under, two strokes ahead of Lamar's MJ Daffue and Houston's James Ross. A&M's other three scorers finished in the Top 10: Junior All-American Cameron Peck and sophomore Johannes Veerman are tied for seventh with a 139, and redshirt freshman Greg Yates is tied for 10th at 140.
The final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
