CROSS COUNTRY


A&M men finish seventh at Notre Dame: SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Henry Lelei paced the Texas A&M men's cross country team with an eighth-place finish at the Notre Dame Invitational, helping the Aggie men's team place seventh in the 26-team field.


A&M's women finished 20 out of 28 teams, led by Katherine Devlin's 17 minute, 53 second run on the 5,000-meter course, good for 61st place.


Lelei completed the five-mile course in a time of 24 minutes, 16 seconds.


Men's team champion BYU, which placed three runners in the top 10, had the individual winner in Miles Batty, who covered the course in 23:59. Princeton's Donn Cabral ran 24:00 as runner-up with Florida State's Mike Fout third in 24:01.


Aggie Kevin Burnett placed 28th in his first race of the season with a time of 24:46. Then completing the team score for A&M were the trio of Will Barry (25:12), Isaac Spencer (25:12) and McLean O'Donnell (25:13) as they placed 74th, 75th and 76th, respectively.


On the women's side, No. 7 Florida State won the team title, followed by 18th-ranked Arkansas and second-ranked New Mexico.


Hillary Montgomery was second for the Aggies and 88th overall, finishing in 18:08. A&M's next three finishers were Itzel Cetina (18:12, 93rd), Tara Upshaw (18:15, 99th) and Haley Parsons (18:20, 114th).


VOLLEYBALL


Aggies hosting Wildcats on Saturday: Texas A&M (12-3, 1-1 Big 12) will host the Kansas State Wildcats (13-3, 2-0) at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Reed Arena.


It will be Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night and any A&M faculty or staff member presenting the invitation sent by Aggie Coach Laurie Corbelli will be admitted free.


The Aggies are 5-0 at home this season and coming off a 3-2 victory over Baylor on Wednesday. KSU won its ninth consecutive match by holding off Missouri 3-2 on Wednesday in Columbia, Mo.
