Ruzickova claims silver at Games: SHENZHEN, China -- Texas A&M sophomore Katerina Ruzickova finished with the lowest score of the final round to earn the silver medal in women's golf at the 2011 World University Games.


Ruzickova, representing the Czech Republic, made a late charge at eventual champion Tzuchi Lin of Chinese Taipei with a 4-under 68, but she fell one stroke short. Ruzickova shot 72-68-73-68-281.


Ruzickova's Czech Republic squad finished sixth with a four-round score of 586 behind Chinese Taipei, China, United States, Korea and Spain.


TENNIS


A&M's Urbina earns bronze in doubles at Games: SHENZHEN, China -- Texas A&M women's tennis player Nazari Urbina and partner Valeria Pulido upset two seeded teams en route to capturing the bronze medal for Mexico in women's doubles at the 2011 World University Games.


Urbina and Pulido, who competes for Southern California, began the tournament with a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 first-round victory against USA's Krista Damico (Texas) and Courtney Collins (Memphis) at Longgang Tennis Center before defeating the tournament's No. 1 seed, Chinwei Chan and Wenhsin Hsu of Chinese Taipei, 7-5, 6-3, in the second round to advance to the quarterfinals.


Urbina and Pulido, both juniors, then rallied to beat Poland's fifth-seeded duo of Olga Brozda and Natalia Kolat 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.


Urbina and Pulido lost to a Chinese team 7-6 (6), 6-3, in the semifinals.
